I work to incorporate therapeutic interventions rooted in cognitive behavioral, acceptance and commitment, and dialectical behavioral therapies. I utilize a gentle balance of humor and empathy to provide a safe, welcoming therapeutic environment. Within this environment, I promote personal fulfillment and change by challenging clients to be curious and introspective about their thoughts, beliefs, and emotions.

To me therapy is a journey of understanding meaning through building a genuine human connection. Through this connection, we can empower ourselves and encourage growth. That is to say, therapy gives us all a place to grow and support ourselves in the most authentic and meaningful way.

“The act of revealing oneself fully to another and still being accepted may be the major vehicle of therapeutic help.”

Making the decision to implement therapy into your life is not an easy one to make. Engaging in therapy is a great opportunity to discover personal insight into how your previous life experiences influence who you currently are as a person. We are all human, and therapy is a beneficial space to work through personal obstacles in order to understand yourself on a deeper level. As a therapist, I am certain in the power of therapy and how it can influence one’s journey throughout their life experiences.

Mary Sudyka, LPC

I not only hope to help you to learn skills needed to help you manage hard emotions in life and give you a safe
space to explore your experiences but I hope to help you also take your power back. Using a CBT based model, I hope to bring some understanding and light to your experiences and help you grow into a better, happier you!

As a counselor, I look to the Latin phrase Cura Personalis as a guide. This translates as “care for the whole person”. This approach calls for individualized attention to the needs of others, a distinct respect for their unique circumstances, and an appropriate appreciation for their particular gifts and insights. With this phrase in mind, I believe that everyone has the tools within them to find healing and create a better more fulfilling life, the challenge is uncovering those tools to begin the journey.
